A city map for people who don't like cities.

Why am I making this map?

I moved to Philly 2 years ago and I have loved it from the beginning. When my dad comes to visit, I want him to have a great time. However, he hates cities. So, I want to make a map that shows some of the better moments of the city (city hall, the italian market, the food, the parks...) and the surrounding areas: the Poconos, Valley Forge, the Amish country, the farm and beach areas of southern New Jersey, etc. Also, it can be a sort of plan for summer getaways for people who live in the city.

Why am I the expert to create this map?

I want the map to be based on my experiences in and around the city, and to portray those experiences.

Who is my target audience?

Anyone, really. It can be more of a destination guide for leaving the city, or for visitors.

What level of detail do I need to include?

As a whole, the map will be extremely inaccurate and not to scale. I want it to be drawn from perspective and to show specific scenes in illustrated (or live-traced from photos) detail, but for the most part to leave out details of street names, etc.

Do I want my final project to be printed or digital?

I haven't decided yet, but most likely printed. It's not really to navigate, more just to look at to get ideas.

“Dear classmates, I need your help/expertise/
guidance on how to.....”

How should i fill blank areas? I was thinking detailed illustrations of local food, scenes, etc, but surely there will be some blank space to fill...

A rough sketch of the map is something like this:
