A Woman Dreams of Dancing on the Way Back from Tesco's
So this is how far I got. I found the workshop super helpful. I'm a designer and an artist, I use figures to communicate how people will interact with my work. And I find they are either almost stick figures, or I'm doing life drawing. So this workshop really helped me find a middle ground, and how to keep things simple and get the poses that I would like. I also had a lot of fun! I chose pole dancing poses as I was interested to see if I could manipulate the larger form of my character and strong thighs to do the poses (that were all done by very fit skinny women in my reference images). Now I'm imagining that my original character is coming back from Tesco's imagining what it would be like if she started dancing. I'm going to add a shopping bag and some sort of thought bubble. It took me a really long time to clean up my lines. I spent a long time drawing and using the eraser to try to pull them back when they got too thick and liney. I'm working in photoshop with a wacom. Next stop colour. I have not used masks much so I'm looking forward to exploring them.
Finished! I really learnt allot about mask layers and colour. I was a bit worried about my original line work, it seemed like the lines were quite fuzzy. (probably I used a brush that was too fuzzy?) But the end result is good so I guess it didn't matter.
