A Tale For The Time Being

I decided to change gears and switch my book to A Tale For The Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. I just finished reading it and couldn't get it out of my head. The narrative follows two women--Ruth is a writer living on an island off of British Columbia, and Nao is a teenage girl who lives in Japan.

Ruth finds Nao's diary (and some other valuables) washed up on her island and starts to read. She finds out Nao is struggling with bullies at school, her suicidal father, and her own doubts about her time on earth. Ruth becomes engrossed in Nao's diary, obsessed wih finding out the real details of her story, feeling restless all the while about the work she does and the quiet life she leads on the island.
