8 Principles of Design

  1. Needs - ample seating, TV console, lots of light - 4 lighting fixtures, some storage.
  2. Shape - round ottoman, round side table; varying shapes of chairs; boxy coffee table and console.
  3. Color - an eggshell blue in variant shades  is repeated in the lamp, couch, and chair; pops of vibrant hot pink; grounded with large amounts of white throughout (curtains, rug, walls).
  4. Pattern - black and white patterns are repeated in pillow, blanket, and chair; the colorful pillow ties in all the colors of room without being "mixy matchy."
  5. Texture - the area rug, the lambswool pillow, the mix of wood, metal, and upholstered furniture, the piñata.
  6. Placement - eye is guided to back window as focal point by the collected placement of coffee table items (short to longer) and the placement of the container garden in background; there is a range of assymetrical arrangements throughout the space creating a collected and effortless feel.
  7. Bling - all brass side table, shiny brass legs, a petite brass chair in one of those glass things (?), a pretty glass vase.
  8. Botanicals - a collection of small and large plants in background and a few here and there in the room; flower arrangements on tables; a playful cactus; I most especially love the vibrant hot pink plant.
