I have to admit that this wasn't quite what I was expecting from the title - I thought I'd be learning how to create floral images using the brush pen alone. Which is not to say I'm unhappy with the class. I still learned some things, and that's what I love most. :)
I did sort of struggle with the color choices a bit. I just started putting down swatches of colors I liked and then picked the ones I thought would work. One of these (the neutral) never even made it to the painting.
I'm not so great at whimsy, it seems. I am a bit of that "perfectionist" she talks about. But I made some effort to "not care" as much. Or... not overthink? I'm not sure I succeeded at that. :-p But I kind of like what I ended up with. :) Maybe you can imagine, but this looks much better in person. I tried to edit the photo just a bit to make it reflect the true colors I used. That never *really* works... especially for the deep green I used on the heart-shaped leaf, the leaf on the coral flower, and the leaf sprig on the far left. That color never photographs well, for some reason. Anyway, I managed to actually draw these a bit small, so there's room at the bottom of the page for something. Maybe some hand lettering...?
