365 Days of Cleaning, Clearing, Organizing my Home.
Feb. 9, 2017
Step 1. Clean, clear, and organize my home.
Step 2. Five of seven days I will spend 15 minutes (above and beyond my regular chores) cleaning, clearing, or organizing one room in my home until that room is completely cleaned, cleared and organized. Then I will move on to the next room, until all the rooms in my house are complete. During this time I will come up with a manageable schedule to keep my home clean, cleared, and organized.
Step 3. Starting TODAY-I will do this 15 minutes when I get home from work, before supper. On the weekends I will do this in the morning.
Step 4. Motivation and accountability. I hope my motivation will be seeing the process work. Posting pictures of before and after on this Project Workspace is about as public as I want to get. No instagram or twitter accounts. I think marking the days on a calendar is a great idea. I plan to sell some of my things (part of the clearing) so saving for entertaining in my clean, clear, organized home is pretty motivating. Specifically, I will post before and after pictures of each room as I go. Mark the days off on a calendar. Plan a get-together after every 3 rooms are complete.
Step 5. First Ten Days
Start family room-take down Christmas decorations
clean out fireplace
organize DVD's and games. Clean television, player, and game box
take sofa sleeper apart and clean
clean chairs and end tables
go through file cabinet, organize papers
organize art supplies
Step 6. I want my home to be a place where I feel comfortable inviting someone over at the spur of a moment. I want my home to work for me, having my cooking supplies or art supplies or my financial papers where I can find them when I want them. I want my "stuff" to be manageable. I want a cleaning schedule that takes little effort to implement and keep up with. I want my clothing and closets to be useful. The way I see that happening is to clean, clear, and organize what I do have.
