1984 By: George Orwell

1984 By George Orwell

I chose to illustrate the dropcap letter "O" for Orwell. The illustration is inspired from Russian propaganda posters from the Cold War. In George Orwell's 1984, telescreens, cameras, and microphones are hidden throughout the city and The Party is able to monitor the public 24/7. Everywhere the citizens go in the story, they are monitored by Big Brother.  To give the sense that Big Brother is constantly monitoring the reader, I have chosen to illustrate a lens to symbolize how The Party abuses their technology by constantly monoriting the public.
