Daily Art Practice for Self-Care: 14 Days of Messages To Yourself

Jessica & Alison - thank you so much for this workshop, it's getting me into a rhythm, Ive never been one for art journaling, but maybe this is what it's going to take!

1. Name a Feeling. Cheerful? Contented? Delighted or maybe even ecstatic. Elated, overjoyed? Pleased. No matter the word, they all express to me how full my heart is for my friend, my sister, my other half to have found the one who makes her heart feel whole, ignites her passions, and sets her soul on fire.

2. Message in one word. Together. With all that is going on right now in the world, the one word that comes to mind seems at times to be what we are lacking and needing the most. And then the Beatles...

3. Respond to your day. The expression, chatter bug, comes to mind. I work with K-6 before and afterschool (or 24/7 right now, thanks COVID), and the little rascals could not contain themselves long enough to get through quick instruction. After today, I wish I had wings to fly south for a little vaca, phew!

  4. Addressing unkind thoughts.

Changing thinking - finding a new perspective. After a long hard day, this is a frequent message.

5. Allowing your own experience.

7 & 8

Active listening throughout the day, and giving permission.

Recognizing that it doesn't matter what other people think, and not letting it get to you. You are the truest you, you will ever be.

9. What would a best friend tell you?

Not in the same words, but definitely with the same underlying feeling!
