November 5, 2019

Not quite 3 months later using concepts I learned in class my Pinterest views have increased to over 300k per month, my Etsy listings are pinned more frequently which has led to an increase in favorites and sales!

August 12, 2019

It took a bit longer than two weeks to move the needle on my Pinterest account but I'm now above 23k views per month and some of that is for my own work and website!

July 22, 2019

Pinterest seems to delay analytics but I can tell that there is definitely some things percolating behind the curtain.  My average views are up to 12.6K - about a 10% increase. I spent my time first following Ohn Mar's advice on adjusting my profile name and description and then rearranged all of my boards and chose attractive covers.

I have been pinning artwork - both re-pinning and also pinning new content a few of those are my own work.  I haven't yet made any new pins of my own work. I still have many, many board descriptions to write and sections and organization to make within at least several of my boards, but now that the needle is moving I think I'm going to focus on creating more of my own content.

I have had 4 or five pins from our Etsy Shop repinned since I created that board and moved it to the top. And this weekend I had my first 'pinterest sale' of my lunar calendar!

I thought this little chart below was the perfect graphic to show what's beginning to happen:

I'm beginning this challenge with 606 followers and an average of 11.2K monthly viewers.

I do have a business profile but I really am just a casual Pinterest user. My personal illustration board is embarrassingly out of date.  I do use secret boards which I share with my Freelance clients but until now I have focused very little on building my own presence on Pinterest or pinning with any consistent strategy. I feel like I'm just now beginning to even develop a web presence that I can be proud of.

I'm excited about using Pinterest again in this new way now that I realize how powerful of a search engine it is!

My first step today after finishing the class was to claim my Instagram account - I didn't know you could do that. Next I saved a few of my newer illustrations from Instagram to my personal illustration board. I need to update the descriptions to include key words but at least they are pinned.

Next I created a new board on a topic that I'm very interested in and that I've also been working on some portfolio illustrations around: The Wind In The Willows. I plan on making some optimized pins of my illustrations to pin to this board.

And finally I pinned a few images including this beautiful photo to my A Wild Hare board. If you are in need of rabbit reference I'm curating a small collection there!

And before stopping for the evening I activated the pin it buttons on my website though I can't figure out how to get them to work on my index and gallery pages.

My Subsequent Tall Pins Created After Ohn Mar's First Class:

This Sardine Illustration is by far my most popular pin and sends consistent traffic to my website. It has been pinned 593 times and had over 70 click-throughs to my website in 2018:

This pin is living proof that pins don't have to be pretty to work. This pin has been
Pinned 495 times!

My Very First Tall Pin from Ohn Mar's First Version of this class in 2016:

It's Advent 2016 Illustration Challenge

I first learned that 'tall pins' had a name and how to create them from one of Ohn Mar's very first periscopes! I created my very first tall pin soon after that which she graciously repinned for me (and a couple of others soon after).

One of those pins has gone on to be repinned more than 250 times which is a lot for my tiny little blog! Thank you so much for your generosity, Ohn Mar!

For this Skillshare project I thought I would share my most recent tall pin (created just yesterday) for my #ItsAdvent 2016 Illustration Challenge.

Enjoy the pin and I'd love it if some of you decided to join in!
