Helloooooo! :) Nice to virtually meet you! I will be using this 100 Day Project as a way to 're-kick-start' (is that a word!?) an ongoing project of mine called 'The Letter Set'
My background has mainly been in the world of Product Design and Graphics (with a brief detour into Fashion....oops!) though throughout all my creative roles I have always remained a 'draw-er' at heart.
I have made greeting cards and various other artwork featuring simple cartoon characters as gifts for friends and family since I was very young....and whilst I'd like to think my technique has improved somewhat (I hope!) the basic principles of the characters form and the main aim to include humour and whimsy in the drawings has remained the same. More recently these characters have evolved to feature on personalised children's name illustrations as part of 'The Letter Set' (more details and pictures below)
A year ago I broke my right wrist rather badly (not the best plan for a right-handed draw-er!) and I now have a metal implant in it as a permanent feature (just call me Iron(wo)Man) I was unable to draw at all for many months and as a result I now feel out of practice...which in turn has knocked my confidence...but that's where this 100 Day Project (hopefully) comes in!
Each day I will be drawing a new letter to add to my existing catalogue of artwork for 'The Letter Set'...I'll post the result each day, with a little explanation as to the reason behind the theme of that particular letter. Sometimes the theme of the letter will be obvious...sometimes perhaps a little more obscure ...For example... 'S for Strawberry' would be obvious at first glance... 'O for On a Bear Hunt' (a popular children's book) would be less so.
I have more than enough artwork ideas to keep me going through the 100 days...however as a master procrastinator/wannabe perfectionist/overthinker I think I need the fact of working within the confines this project and posting on here to keep me accountable, to help me stop faffing and to force me to basically... 'Just Do It' (as a certain popular sports brand might say!)
Below are some pages from an existing PDF to hopefully explain who and what 'The Letter Set' are.... :)
P.S Oh, and I forgot to mention...the 'documenting' part in the project title is simply that I will also be keeping a notebook throughout the process as I am constantly writing lists and ideas on random bits of paper...keeping everything in the same place over the net couple of months might make a refreshing change. ;)
I know I will more than likely (or rather, certainly! Haha!) not be able to keep up this presentation style of creating a board for each design each day for the 100 Days but whilst I have the time and motivation in these early stages I thought it would be nice to do so. :)
