"Never love anyone who treats you like you're ordinary." -- Oscar Wilde

I've always wanted to try hand lettering. So here's to finally getting the courage to show off my ugly handwriting and try to make it pretty.

I decided to use an Oscar Wilde quote, "Never local anyone who treats you like you're ordinary." I think it's a beautiful quote and a great piece of advice, and I thought it would be fun to work with!

So let's warm up!

I'm definitely more comfortable with script lettering, since I've played around with calligraphy before, but I wanted to try something different with these.

The ornate one was fun to play with! I've never tried that kind of lettering before. Obviously it's a little wonky looking butI figure with some practice that could get better ;)

Here are the thumbnails I came up with, I started with some simple ones and tried to get a little more creative as I worked. That's actually kind of a huge challenge for me. My brain is super creative when it comes to words, but not so much with artsy stuff.

The one with all the swirls, I like the idea but I'm not super confident about filegree and flourishing. I was trying to mimic an image I saw where the text was sort of enveloped in this really pretty swirls.

I think my favorites are that one (if I can maybe figure that flourishing crap out), the one with the ornate Love and Ornate (far right on the top), and the one right to the eft of it.

What do you guys think? Do they have some potential?
