"Ithaka" by C.P Cavafy

Poem:

I'm not a big poem reader, but I picked "Ithaka" by Cavafy, as it is one of the few poems that have left a lasting impression on me.

After annotating the poem I realized that I might have bitten off more than I could chew. While the poem does have some distinct images, most of them could not represent the poem at all.

I ended up deciding that Ithaka itself was the most important element in the poem, along with the concept of travel.

After doing these sketches I decided that I really wanted to somehow integrate the sea in the final design, even if it was just by color.

I found a picture of an original manuscript, which was sadly not usable due to its poor resolution. I managed however to recreate the handwritten title (in Greek), which I used as the main element for this first cover.
