"Imaginary" city

The above is not an "imaginary"city, but is the area that I will be using for my foraging map.  I looked at google maps and drew what I saw (no tracing, but I think it's fairly accurate).  This gives me a more realistic picture of what the neighborhood looks like. Plus, I discovered another park in our area!

Okay, so, I've been fighting with my computer for two days trying to load these scans.  Some of them are upside down, some of them are repeats, but they give the general idea.

I was going to do them on one sheet of paper but things kind of got away from me. ;)

They all match up and have the sketches of the route I take to check on various wild edibles.  I included charming notes as well as street names, plants, and the time of year to look for your edibles.  I also included quick instructions about what to do with the more obscure items.  Everyone knows what to do with a cherry, but not everyone knows what to do with douglas fir tips!

Why am I making this map? For fun? A client? a
gift? To showcase my favorite places? Etc.

It's partly for fun and my own reference but also it would be cool if other local foragers wanted to use it.

Why am I the expert to create this map?

I know where the edible things are in my neigborhood!

Who is my target audience?

Fellow foragers, nature lovers, people who want to learn something new.

What level of detail do I need to include? (Names,
addresses, contact info, street names, website,
hours, descriptions, color coding etc.)

street names, plant names, color coding, perhaps info on the time of year each edible can be collected.

Do I want my final project to be printed or digital?
How is it going to be used/ held? What other
constraints do I need to keep in mind moving
forward? (Note: type can be smaller on printed maps
than when viewed on web).

Probably digital, so that it can be easily disseminated.  But I think it should probably be hand-drawn, at least in part.

“Dear classmates, I need your help/expertise/
guidance on how to.....

Is it realistic to hand-draw it?  Any suggestions about how to make it pretty and functional?
