"Good drawing is a good start in engineering"

Hello Keith. and regards to all.
Thanks for the classes. I really enjoyed the videos, and now I enjoy doing this exercises, and reading your stories is great. I think it is really helpful to tell good stories when we need to share almost anything from just information to experiences.
I’m sending you the first steps of my homework.

WHAT STORY DO YOU NEED TO TELL? AND WHY?

The story I want to tell is more about my point of view about the importance of Mechanical drawing and Design. I actually teach in a Mechanical Drawing course, so, I though I could start this term and the introduction of this subject with a motivating and guiding story to tell.

WHICH TYPE OF STORY ARE YOU TELLING?

Besides it is my point of view I decided to tell a story of results -> “How good technical drawings can make an impact in engineering"

WHICH COMPONENTS DO YOU NEED TO TELL THIS STORY?

I chose just four of these components:

A world view:

  • We do communicate through drawings and graphics.
  • We need to manage the same “Language”.
  • Technical-Mechanical drawing “Language” is our focus in this subject
  • At this point of our career, we are learning new valuable skills

Challenging situations

  • Many skills, environments and challenges (tell three or four) are facing in design and engineering.
  • Small mistakes in mechanical drawing can have a big impact.

Lessons Learned

  • Clear Language (Drawing + Technic)
  • Basic skills are learn at this point but “detail and criteria” is important
  • Dimensioning really matters for…

New Possibilities

  • Old skills versus new skills to learn
  • “Leaving this course being good at…. “
  • Great vision and design
