"C" is for Richard Connell's "The Most Dangerous Game"

6 December 2013

So, I did another round of sketches and settledf on one to put together.  I may go back and add color, but I'm not super stoked about where it stands and I'm ready to move on to something different.  All said, I still learned a lot, and I'd look forward to any critique.  Thank you to all y'all who took the time to comment.  Cheers!

Sorry about the gnarly photo quality.  Anyway, I'm not super amped about an of these yet, so I thought I'd give it another try before I make a decision.

Also for fun, I went ahead and looked up some stuff:

at bay/keep at bay: forced to turn and face attackers; repel, defend against, constant vigilance

bay-a body of water partially enclosed by land but with a wide mouth affording access to the sea.  (How very c-like. See what I did there?  Okay, I'll stop.)

cove- a small sheltered bay in the shoreline of a sea.

ford (since old boy's name is Rainsford)- a shallow place in a body of water such as a river where one can cross.

cape- a point or head of land projecting into a body of water.

Also, here are some pages with things of interest I noted down:

p. 6  "Who cares how a jaguar feels?"

p. 8 sense vs. superstition; "so dark I could sleep w/o closing my eyes; the night would be my eyelids."

p. 9 blood-warm waters

p. 10 his enemy, the sea

p. 11 description of tracking a person

p. 12 crazy chateau on random island

p. 20 "There is no greater bore than perfection."  (that's just a badass line.)

p. 22 weak exist to give pleasure to the strong

p. 23 Reason makes men dangerous game

p. 39 "I am still a beast at bay."
