"American Gods" - Neil Gaiman

Update: 11/30

Sorry for not posting sooner.

Been considering ideas for the cover and I finally did some sketch work for my concepts. I decided to focus on the theme of coin tricks and cons for the overall design. The Storm over the Highway, the Ash tree and other ideas I feel might be over-used or too common, I want to see what I can do with something a little more unique to the main character (Shadow). I'm hoping to have a few variants made up soon.

(PICTURES AND SCANS TO BE POSTED LATER)

American Gods is the book I've chosen to take up for the book cover project. It also happens to be one of the first books I really, really enjoyed, go figure.

A number of different covers have been on this book for the 10+ years it's been in print, each one touching lightly on certain subjects or items in the story but the main thing that seems to be reoccuring is the sense of mystery and other worldliness that each design has. It brings you in with the beckoning questions coming from ominous imagery, "what's this about?" and "where is this story going?". Or at least that's what I got from it once I held a copy of it in my hands for the first time.

For the time being, I can try to get some overall ideas down for the cover before the next lesson.

EDIT: Cover on Spanish Edition, Really really like this one. More of an illustrative solution.
