Hi! My name is Isabel Urbina Peña and I'm a designer and lettering artist based in New York. I currently work as a book cover designer at Random House. Some of my clients include American Museum of Natural History, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Variety, Campari, Diner Journal & Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas.

I obtained my BFA in Visual Communication and Design in 2008 where I graduated with honors from ProDiseño in Caracas, Venezuela. Later on, I continued my studies at the Cooper Union's Cooper Type Extended program in Typeface Design. After finishing, I went on to be a teacher’s assistant under renowned type designers Hannes Famira, Just Van Rossum, Jesse Ragan and Sara Solskone.

My work has been featured in The New York Times, PRINT Magazine, Design Observer's 50 Books / 50 Covers, The Casual Optimist, Design Work Life & Quipsologies, among others. I was recently named a New Visual Artist 2015 by PRINT Magazine.

In my spare time, I design typefaces (letratype.com) and make hand-lettered zines (rantsfromastranger.com). For more of my work go to isabelurbinapena.com
