Soft paradise mood board

Soft paradise mood board - student project

Hi everyone! My name is Marie Grondin and I'm a complete beginner.

As a child, my biggest dream was to become a fashion designer. I would spend hours every day drawing dresses and trying to make outfits for my dolls. However, I was always told that art wasn't a viable career path, so I gave up for a while. I decided to take this class as a way to reconnect with my creativity and finally do what I like, even if just as a hobby.

My mood board is inspired by my childhood living in a small island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. I was mostly inspired by nature: the light, the movement of the waves and the subtle patterns created by leaves and flowers. I was also inspired by the architecture on the island and its traditional dances.

I envision a collection with breathable and flowy pieces made for every day wear. Both feminine and practical. For instance, I would love to create a few pieces within the collection that can be worn in different ways. Ideally, I would want to use plant based fabrics and materials. I definitely want my collection to be size inclusive and use colors that look good on different skin tones.

My target demographic are women who value ethical and ecological clothing. They want high quality and durable pieces at a reasonable price. They want to look effortlessly feminine and confident in what they wear.

The hardest part of this project was choosing a color story and sorting through all of my images. I am overall happy with the outcome and I'm looking forward to doing more mood boards in the future!Soft paradise mood board - image 1 - student projectSoft paradise mood board - image 2 - student project
