First attempt. These shoes were actually satin and I added fake rhinestones to match the look from the Macy's catalog. I know I was too heavy handed trying to control the watercolor so it became a bit muddy, and have to learn to trust and allow it to do it's own thing. That's ok because it's all experimental and part of the learning process and I really had fun with this project.
For my sequin piece I found these gorgeous pink boots but the color did not translate well and I don't think I left enough white space? It just doesn't pop so I added real sequins and more dark shading for definition. See 2nd pic below.
So I added real sequins.
So then I went back and just worked along with Katie in the video and I like the results.
My very own well worn, blue suede, Argentine tango shoes. Way too much paint and perspective is off on the shoe on the left.
And lastly my patent leather shoe. I can't figure out if darker color should be darker or the highlights should also be darker but something is amiss.
