I've had this fairy tale concept in my head for ages that I'm dying to write about a girl from a tiny village in a kingdom that heavily relies on magic but discovers it is slowly seeping out of the collective consciousness. No one is sure if it's the ability that is leaving people or something in the environment that's drying up, but every day their crops grow a little more unmanageable, their livestock a little more unruly, and their swords a little more dull. Wanting to fix this, the little girl sets out and eventually finds a spirit who cannot change the root cause, but agrees to help the village in exchange for one of her potential futures for each change to the world. As the future is infinite, she agrees and begins to fix problem after problem for her and her neighbours for a few years until they have grown prosperous. All seems well outside of vague rumours of neighbouring kingdoms growing suspicious of their surprising well-being until one day the girl discovers a spy for one of those kingdoms who is somehow wearing her face...

I initially wrote it out in bits and pieces as a framework for a more traditionally sci-fi story I wanted to do for NaNo, but I went with a different idea and just never got back to it. I do love it though, it absolutely deserves to be a story in its own right.
