Here is my progress, plus final piece. For the ombré I was trying out new pens that I realized were alcohol-based; they soaked in, spread, and bled through to the other side and the next sheet. Good thing this is practice! Lesson learned: always check your pens for bleeding, etc.!

Also, learned that Black and Gray don’t really “do” ombré very well, but red and yellow sure do :-)

For the Go Wild background I started the same way the wash started, but then took a crumpled piece of Saran Wrap and dabbed it first on the palette, then on the page. I like how it turned out!

I did have some experience with brush pen lettering, but:

First, I don’t work with big, thick brush pens very often, and I bought these new metallic SpectrumNoir pens, so I worked on using them.

Second, Peggy showed a different way of bouncing that I really liked but had not seen in other tutorials on bounce; they usually just showed the letters as the same size but raising an M arch or dropping down below on the downstrokes; Peggy showed me how to change up the base line and X height, which was really helpful.
