SoundBox MusicLab is a music project founded by two music teachers: Inês and Miguel.

Inês Teixeira
conductor and music teacher

Inês Teixeira, from Braga, Portugal, is hailed by Ludo Claesen as a “very talented and driven conductor”. She currently teaches at Conservatório de Guimarães in Portugal. Before, she collaborated with Opera Zuid (The Netherlands) and conducted the Crossed Paths of Maastricht and Female Voices of Maastricht, both based in Maastricht. She is also a founder of the project SoundBox MusicLab.

In 2019, Inês was awarded a grant by the GDA Foundation (Portugal) to study her last year of the master's degree in Choral Conducting at the Conservatorium Maastricht, in Ludo Claesen’s class.

Previously, Inês did a bachelor degree in Conducting and Music Theory, and a Master degree in Music Education in the branch of Music Theory and Aural Training, both in Aveiro University, Portugal. Before moving to The Netherlands she taught aural training, choir and orchestra and was a researcher in an early childhood music education project

She believes that music is for everyone and that everyone can learn something valuable from it.

Miguel Marques Lima
pianist and music teacher

“His willingness to work hard combined with his talent” makes Miguel Marques Lima a “very serious and intelligent” pianist. This is how Katia Veekmans describes the Portuguese pianist who started his studies in music at the age of 18.

He often performs both solo and with various chamber music groups in venues spread throughout Europe.

Passionate about education and social projects, he is the pianist and composer of the community music project SoundBox MusicLab.

In 2020, after he finished his master’s degree in Piano Performance at the Conservatorium Maastricht, he started teaching in a conservatory in Portugal.

Previously, Miguel did his bachelor’s degree in piano performance at Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espectáculo (ESMAE) in Porto, and his master’s in Music Education in Aveiro University, where he researched and developed strategies concerning memorization in piano with children and teenage students. Meanwhile, he taught piano for several years in different schools in Portugal, working with people from all age groups, from babies to the elderly.
