Hello, I'm Sam.

I'm the owner and artist behind the Brookland DC watercolor and calligraphy studio, Right Place Studio. As a former first grade teacher, I enjoy teaching workshops to adults, making custom watercolor house portraits for clients, making custom gifts at live events, and finding inspiration around my home city, Washington DC.

I've been making art since I was a kid in Youngstown, Ohio. My grandfather was a skilled artist and would foster my creativity from an early age (I even have a set of his brushes that I still use from time to time). While I've been an artist my whole life, Painted Palettes was formally born in 2011 out of the desire to connect to the community and make art accessible for everyone.

Today you can find me in my studio/shop painting architecture and landscapes, hand engraving glass and metal wares, and teaching virtual workshops to help people realize their own creativity.
