Square Scarf Inspired by Vietnam

This is my sample project for my class Symmetry in Procreate: Draw and Sew a Square Scarf.
Below I have uploaded each key stage of the project development. Enjoy!
Pinterest Research
This is my favourite design from my Pinterest research, a Hermes scarf called J'ardin D'hiver. I love how the leaves trail off the edges of the border.
Moodboard
Here is my moodboard with a selection of photos I took on my year living in Vietnam. I tried to select a mixture of colour, texture, icons and pattern.
Sketches
These sketches I drew from my moodboard and a couple of other photos I liked. I love the shape of the leaf and want to develop that for my border.
Symmetry Demo
Here is one of my symmetry demos to show the rotation of Radial Symmetry using leaves. I will use this to add background detail to my final scarf design, but I think I will use Quadrant symmetry for the main elements of the design.
Final Scarf Design
Here is my final design! I added layers and colour to the sketched icons and used rotational Quadrant symmetry to develop the design.
Scarf Mock Up
This is my mock up using Photoshop. I love this scarf mock up as it shows the light and shadow on the scarf and how it might be in real life!
Sending to Print
I sent my scarf design to print with London-based fabric printers Contrado. It arrived in the post 3 days later and looks amazing on 100% silk. It is now ready to hem!
Hemming
I've finished hemming all around the edges with an invisible stitch, tucking in stray threads and making sure the corners match up as much as possible.
My scarf is finished!
Here's the final scarf ready to wear!
Hooray!
