Pen & Ink Irises

Pen & Ink Irises - student project

I loved this class and I had a great time doing it. I started with a photo reference and did a digital tracing

Then I printed my tracing onto watercolor paper with waterproof ink. I then used a calligraphy nib to do the initial outline. It took a few tries.

I used Micron Pens and Ohto Graphic liners in 0.005, 0.2 and 0.3 to add details. Here is the finished black and white linework!

I loved my result

I scanned my final line drawing, and printed a few versions on to my water color paper and have been playing it lots of variations.

This one I printed the drawing and then painted

This one I painted a quick organic version of the colors and printed my line work over the top of that

This one I printed, painted and then printed another copy on velum to overlay!

Thanks for a GREAT class. It has given me a lot of inspiration!
