I'm late....for a very important date....more linocut fun !!
The discovery process and wonderful unexpected results has been fun this weekend ! As I was carving the rabbit, I kept thinking this is either going to produce a big mess or something unique and playful.......I'm so happy that I stuck it out and didn't give up. Tried some new colors and low viscosity acrylic paints. Am also a big fan of the synthetic paper because it creates such interesting textures.
And, important to note - there's no retouching in these prints......even the last one, it looks like I went over it to create the outline.....but I didn't - completely a fluke !
The wonderful thing about print making is - you can print on anything. Even the paper towel clean up has created nice results.....
I feel compelled to carry out with the rest of the characters.....
Everyone should try this class - be fearless !! You will amaze yourself :)
Thank you Anna, as always, you inspire me so much !!! never would have ever tried this technique if it weren't for your class.

Taking inspiration from Lewis Carroll, I'm lucky to still have my 1955 edition of Alice in Wonderland with illustrations by Roberta Paflin (Whitman Publishing Co., Racine, Wisconsin).
Thank you again Anna for creating this class.....working through the steps you have taught, I have found the entire process so enlightening...everything from creating the image, tracing it onto the lino block, and the most time consuming (but rewarding) - the carving ! Don't rush this part.....it has it's own timeline.....even the parts you cut away can become important to the design. Of course, the print - is the big reward. Am once again surprised and quite thrilled with the results. Next up, will be the rabbit !

This has been a wonderful learning experience.....and, of course, I should have started with a much easier image (like perhaps...my cats :)....I used a photo from our garden, rendered it in Adobe Capture (an App that always produces some interesting results).....then followed Anna's process....step by step. Only needed 1 bandage along the way :).....those little carving blades don't like fingers in the way ! Noted for next time :)
I have never done anything like this before....thank you Anna for bringing another new technique to your virtual classroom !! For newbies, like me, it's a wonderful insight into printmaking....and very meditative. I plan to try something much more simple but identifiable in my next attempts.....I have an Alice in Wonderful illustration which should translate nicely.
The results are very abstract - but that's OK with me. I used printing ink from my local art store in Kingston, Canada - Art Noise, and the easy cut lino blocks. The pink flower is on synthetic paper and the other prints - on 140lb cold pressed watercolor. Some neat textures along the way....
