If Prayers Could Fly

Title: If Prayers Could Fly

By Nicole Miller

Little Zeno opened his eyes, stretched his arms, and wiggled his toes to greet the day. He was joyful and happy in every way.

He ran downstairs and couldn't wait to eat. "Slow down, little man," his mom said, "and have a seat. Before we eat, we will say a prayer, thanking God for his love, comfort, and care."

They finished their talk with Jesus and closed it with an Amen. Zeno then asked, "Is a prayer like a letter we send?"

"Does it have a stamp or is it carried by the wind? Is it something we borrow or something we lend? Can it make its way both near or far? Does it travel faster than a plane or car?

Does a prayer float like a boat? Are they warm like a coat? Are prayers like a hammer that can fix? Do prayers build us up just like bricks?

Are prayers gentle and soft, just like a dove? Do prayers, like angels, follow you from above? Are prayers like what your heart tries to say? Are prayers like the sun on a rainy day?"

"Mommy, I really want to know, do prayers guide and protect me every inch that I grow?"

"Yes, my child. And God wants to hear you pray. Never feel like you have no words to say, even when things don't go your way. The Holy Spirit will tell God how you feel. Never feel bad; be honest and real.

And like a letter, it can be delivered like mail. The words of your heart, they will never fail. And up in the sky, in heaven on a street made of gold, are the ones that we miss and long to hold.

Jesus is smiling down, saying, 'Would you look at that? My child is amazing, and this is a fact. So when you're sad and feeling alone, just know your prayers are powerful and quicker than a phone.

Tell Jesus all about it and know that he cares. He has a forever love and will always be there. Run along now and get ready for school. Know that all things are possible, anything you can do.

Can anyone pray? Does it matter the words that we say?"

"Yes, my son, and it reaches the ones we miss. Prayers are full of God’s comfort and a good night kiss."
