Take your next nap on your own patchwork pillow!

The project of this class is to sew your own patchwork cushion. We'll go over the basics of patchwork and quilting so that you can make your own pillow in no time!

To do this, first download the course materials in the resources, which contain cutting plans and all other necessary information for sewing. You'll need the following supplies:

Background and accentuating fabrics (which can be in multiple patterns and colors; scraps will work also)
Pillow form, 20” square
Sewing machine or your hands and patience
Rotary Cutter
Inch Ruler
Cutting mat and
Basic sewing supplies (needles, thread, pins, scissors, etc)

When you're finished with your patchwork pillow, you'll have an object that's uniquely yours—and one that will look good anywhere in your home.

Here are the main steps in the process:

The first step is to choose the fabrics.
Then, cut out pieces of fabric according to the cutting plans (pay attention to the correct sizing and add seam allowance)
Next, I'll show you the correct seam settings, and we'll then start with simple piecing.
Then we take it a step further into Foundation Paper Piecing, a paper sewing technique that produces very accurate results.
After that, we sew all patchwork blocks together and add a border to form the front part of the pillow.
And finally, we sew the back with an envelope closure, which means we don't need a zipper or buttons.

Once you've got the hang of things, you can go bigger!!! Maybe sew your first quilt—the process is basically the same. It's a lot easier than you think.
