Hi, I'm Tim!
I’m an Adobe Certified Instructor and Expert, and I work as a designer based in London.
In this short and enjoyable class, I’ll show you how to create an eye-catching social media post using cut-outs and creating a sun-ray background using Adobe Photoshop’s AI cut-out tools as well as some traditional techniques for the background. This is a totally beginner friendly course as no knowledge is assumed and I explain everything step-by-step.
Whether you want to jazz up a birthday card, create unique posters or adverts, or design cool social media posts and banners, this course will give you the skills to make it happen.
In this class, you’ll learn how to:
- Use Adobe Photoshop’s AI Cut-out tools
- Work with Layers and some traditional Photoshop Filters
All lessons are delivered in short, bite-sized videos that are easy to follow. Even if you’ve never used Photoshop before, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the process.
There are 1 resource files for this course, however you can use your own if you wish.
So whether you’re making something for websites, social media, or your next big celebration, let’s make it fun, creative, and totally enjoyable!

Using the techniques that you've learned in this course, create a similar background, but instead of doing a cut-out, add some text. In my example below I have added some type which has a circus feel to it, added a drop shadow and a stroke effect to the text.
To add the Drop Shadow and the Stroke to your text, just double click on the layer to the right of the text layer's name and then this will bring up a window which will allow you to choose Drop Shadows, Strokes as well as other interesting effects.
Finally, an option for those of you who are already au fait with Photoshop's layers, you can add a texture as a new layer and blend it with the sunray using Multiply Blend Mode. I found my texture by searching for texture papers in the free Adobe Stock. Experiment with different textures and different blend modes to get interesting results.
