Eligibility

To be eligible for all prizes, you'll need to accomplish the following:

Publish your class by July 1st that meets our Class Guidelines.
Create a class project in Teaching A Great Skillshare Class that has, at minimum, a class topic. Not sure how to create a class project? Follow this quick visual tutorial for some extra guidance.

Sign up for the Teach Challenge by clicking the “Join” button above, and enrolling in our two free classes on teaching and class marketing - Teach an Amazing Skillshare Class and the Marketing Class
Every few days, we’ll send you’ll an email with instructions and tips on how to complete each one of the class creation milestones.
Share each of your milestones in the Project Section for feedback.
Use the Discussions section to ask questions along the way and get help from our Teacher Support team.
Need extra help? Participate in a live AMA with our Teacher Support team on Thursday, June 16th at 3pm EST.
Publish your class to Skillshare by Friday, July 1st to successfully complete the challenge!

Key Dates + Milestones: May 1st- June 1st

Milestone 1: Start Your Class Draft - Due Thursday, June 2nd

Assignment: If you haven't done so already, start your class draft at www.skillshare.com/teach by clicking "Start a Class." Your class draft is where you'll upload your class information and videos before publishing to Skillshare.

Milestone 2: Class Topic and Project - Due Monday, June 6th

Assignment: Watch the Teach an Amazing Skillshare Class.
Deliverable: Start your class project in Teach an Amazing Skillshare Class and share your class topic and class project.

Milestone 3: Outline - Due Friday, June 10th

Assignment: Complete your own outline using this outline template.
Deliverable: Share a link to your outline in your class project.

AMA with our Teacher Support team on Thursday, June 16th at 3pm EST

Join this live Q&A session! You’ll be able to ask us anything from specific Teach Challenge questions, to general question about teaching on Skillshare!

Milestone 4: Your Introduction Video - Due Monday, June 20th

Assignment: Check out our filming resources in our Teacher Handbook, and practice your teacher presentation skills.
Deliverable: Post your introduction video or a sample video lesson on Youtube, and embed the link into your project or share the direct URL.

Milestone 5: Wrap up Filming & Start Editing Your Class- Friday, June 24th

Assignment: Wrap up filming and start editing! Check out these three quick tips on editing your class videos!
Optional Deliverable: Post an edited sample video lesson on Youtube, and embed the link into your project or share the direct URL.

Milestone 6: Publish Your Class - Due Friday, July 1st

Finish recording your class videos, and upload them to your class draft (click "Start a Class").
Deliverable: Publish your class to Skillshare and share a link to your class in your project by Friday, July 1st at 11:59 PM EST!

Milestone 7: Market Your Class - July 1st - July 7th

Assignment: Enroll in Class Marketing: Build Your Student Following on Skillshare to learn how to market your class, which is the absolute best way to build credibility for yourself and start earning revenue! Head to the Marketing section of the Teacher Handbook for more help.
Deliverable: Start your project in the Project Gallery of Class Marketing: Build Your Student Following on Skillshare and share what marketing tactics you’ve used to enroll students in your new class, starting with your friends and family.

FAQs

What if I miss a deadline? No problem - you can catch up to the next milestone and still be eligible to complete the challenge if you publish your class by the deadline.
Do I have to live in the USA to participate? You can teach a Skillshare class from anywhere in the world!
