Learn how to illustrate a cute animal portrait in gouache with this wonderful workshop :)
The workshop is open to all skill levels but specifically made for beginners - intermediate.
In just two weeks you will learn:
- What makes things cute
- 2 sketching methods
- Brush stroke practice for painting fur
- How to create a beautiful animal portrait in Gouache.

How It Works

After watching the videos for this week you will have an understanding of
- What this class is about and what it will cover (Introduction)
- Which materials you'll need (Materials)
- How to prepare your workspace (Painting Preparation)
DELIVERABLE due on Wednesday, June 1st by 11pm PT
- Start your class project by sharing your idea of which motif you are going to use. You can also add photos that inspired you and create a moodboard if you want but it's not obligatory.

June 2nd - June 5th
So what makes things cute?
Get to what makes things cute and enjoy sketching! Have fun with pushing the boundaries. Try the 2 different techniques and find out what works best for you.

- Sketching
After watching the videos for this week you will have an understanding of
- What makes things cute (Cuteness)
- How to sketch with either outlines or circles (Sketching)
DELIVERABLE due on Sunday, June 5th by 11pm PT
- Upload 1 cute sketch (show how you have experimented with the concept of cuteness) and 1 sketch for your painting (this sketch will be the foundation for the painting you will create next week).

The fun part - Mix your paint, lay down layers and add details.

- Painting I
- Painting II
- Painting III
- Finishing touches
- Final thoughts
After watching the videos for this week you will have an understanding of
- How to mix your paints and get the right consistency (Painting I)
- How to lay down blocks of colour for a base (Painting I+II)
- How to paint fur by practicing your brush strokes (Painting I+II)
- How to add details and bring your painting to life (Painting III + Finishing Touches)
- How to share the love (Final Thoughts)
DELIVERABLE due on Sunday, June 12th by 11pm PT
- Upload at least one picture of your work in progress and upload your finished illustration
