To apply what you’ll learn in this class in a practical way, you’ll be drawing a portrait of your favorite TV or Movie character in a fun, colorful style.

You will be picking your favorite actor/character and incorporating their personality and parts of their story/character traits into your art piece! We’ll be using mainly iPad and Procreate for this project, but any device, art app, or software will do.

We'll be working on your project in these steps:

Picking Reference Photos
- I’ll be sharing some tips and best practices for picking great reference photos.

Sketching
- We’ll be setting the groundwork for our illustration.

Inking
- Line weight and quality are your best friends!

Coloring
- Now on to the fun part. We’ll be learning how to choose exciting color combinations, keep them balanced, and making them work!
Painting
- Let's start bringing your drawing to life with light and shadows!

Design Elements

- This final part of the process will help set you apart! This is where we can make our character’s personality really shine.

Share your love of the show/movie with everyone else! Tell us a little bit about the character and why you chose them. Post your process pictures after every step! Don’t forget to ask questions if you get stuck!

By the end of this class, you’ll have an awesome portrait piece to add to your portfolio and show off to your friends and family! But more importantly, you’ll have new techniques under your belt to further your art skills.
