First... let me answer these questions you suggested to consider:

Which type or types of self-sabotage hit home for you?

Though I've danced with every form of self-sabotage possible over the past few decades... the embracing of self-promotion is the genre that I have the hardest time overcoming...

I used to suffer from perfectionism... but when I started to make content for the internet... I started to realize that... until you die... you don't have to really commit to a final draft... after that... I started to see everything as a work in progress... to be revisited and reworked as needed... this works for me because I plan to keep all of my work self-published... this allows me to feel more in control while keeping my perfectionistic inner critic at bay...

I've never had a real problem with procrastination... I would prefer to live in the worlds I create while working on my projects than spend time in this reality... things like day jobs and maintaining a social life seem to get more in the way than anything... that said... I do procrastinate all the time when it comes to things like my health and non-creative relationships... which does affect my ability to keep up with my creative goals somedays...

My inner critic is more focused on the self and not the work that I put out... I feel like I'm seen as too stupid to be able to put out the work that I do... and that nobody takes me seriously... as far as my work goes... since I started to look at everything as a work in progress... I stopped being as harsh since I know that there are still issues that I plan to eventually fix... as soon as I gain the correct skillset to pull off changes to match how I see it in my head...
Now here's where the problem with the "Work In Progress" approach messes with my head... since nothing is technically ever finished... it's hard to promote anything as finished work without the feeling that others will look at me as unprofessional... or someone who's quantity over quality... when I feel like I'm experimenting in an effort to manage both... and not some author... thinking each project is a masterpiece... it doesn't help that promotion to me feel like work that gets in the way of my creative process...
What surprised you most? Maybe you discovered a pattern you didn’t realize was there.

It was nice to hear you bring up the fear of success... I'm 44 years old and have had a lifetime of close calls and ruined every one... as they say... if you keep at it... you grow comfortable with rejection and failure... unfortunately... over time... failure started to bring on the comfort of home... now... I'm terrified of success... because I feel it will get in the way of my work...

I fear if I get comfortable that I'll grow lazy... or worse... end up so focused on the business, networking, and promotion side to have any time left for the part of the work that I love... which was a major problem with some of the "close calls" from my past... for those who think the concept is ridiculous... fear of success is real!!!
How will these ideas change the way you approach your next goal or project?

I'm not really sure how sharing this will change my approach to my next project... since I'm constantly making adjustments all of the time... but this course has brought up concepts that will be in the back of my mind when it's time to strategize...

Now to tackle these worksheets...

The Pattern:

I switch back and forth between a normal and graveyard schedule depending on the time of the year... nocturnal during the summer... when it's too hot for me to function during the day... if the weather is tolerable... I mainly sleep when I feel the need...

I'm terribly grumpy for the first few hours after waking... having to leave the world of dreams... because of this... I avoid interacting with anyone in real-time until what is the equivalent of noon if I had a 9to5 life...

While grumpy... I fire up a Complete Guide to Everything podcast... while I check my email and breakfast cooks... the grumpiness usually leaves with the food... but that could also be the cannabutter that I add to my coffee to cope with the nerve issues in my lower back...

Either way... it's usually way before noon when the grumpiness is gone and I get to work... during the day... I do my blogging, coding, and/or any non-fictional writing... I save the fiction for the night... since I have sort of a self-hypnosis to keep me in the fictional worlds... and it's hard to do this during the day... while the rest of the world is awake and filled with distractions...

I'm pretty locked into this pattern... so I don't really have an answer to what I would do more of... when it comes to what I need to mute... this one is a hard one... because I need to mute some people in my life... nothing permanent... not even all day... I just can't allow the free I give access to others during the day... where their needs come first since I'm just working on art... and they don't always see that... even though I don't get paid all that much... my projects are still work to me...

Alright... I think I covered the other four exercises in the intro when I broke down my relationship with the sabotage styles... so with that... it's now time to self-promote...
