Assignment //

Create a drawing collage/quilt of your experiments you've created during this class. You can use any of the drawing techniques and any of the materials you have just learned (or add your own! That’s part of the fun!). Think of it as a drawing montage where you don’t have to necessarily worry about or fixate on realism or crazy accurate detail and proportion. You will be exploring mark making and expressive drawing styles while incorporating the whim and whimsy that represents you.

Most important? Have FUN! Grab some paper, your drawing tools...maybe a cup of coffee or tea (you can draw with these too, by the way...just don't drink it if you've dipped your brush in it ;) It's a great experiment device!) and sit down and make some marks! Doodle, draft, draw lines, shapes, repeats...anything that comes to your mind! The more experiments you make, the more ideas you can use for your final drawing!

Final drawing size: up to you!

Take your experiments...cut them up, photocopy them, rip, tear or shred them. The using your final sheet of paper, glue them in place. You can be random with this or predraw a design on it and fit the pieces into a specific spot. Pay attention to values--you will want to explore a full value spectrum with your piece. Relax and have fun!

Deliverable //

Process! Feel free to show some steps of your process. Do you like to brainstorm your ideas via lists? Go for it! Do you like to do some rough sketches before you start working? Go for it! Maybe inspiration hits you when you walk through an art supply store…instragram your experience and share it with the class!

Once you’re in work mode, show us some of your steps. It's SO important to share and show (and see!) work in progress! An as ever, upload an image of your final creation. If you post on social media, be sure to use the tag "likesidoodle" so we can find each other!
