Create a logotype for your favorite local shop.

ASSIGNMENT

Your assignment is to create a custom logotype for your favorite local shop. Start by experiencing the store firsthand to inspire the sketching of your initial concepts. Once you’ve finalized your sketches, bring them into Illustrator to perfect the geometry, symmetry, and balance of the typography. Your goal is to find the pieces that tie the logotype all together in order to design a unified and unique mark.

DELIVERABLE

Upload your final logotype to the project gallery of this class. A completed project includes:

name of the shop and 1-3 sentences describing your style/vision/concept

3-5 different sketches of the full word

screenshots of vector work in progress

final logotype

optional bonus: mock-ups with logo (ex: business card, shirts, signage, etc.)

RESOURCES

For this class assignment, you’ll need a pencil, eraser, pen, paper, ruler, tracing paper, camera or scanner, and Adobe Illustrator.
