Week 2! I started right after week 1. Most of the time it takes me more than a day, but I enjoyed this week more than the first :) Maybe because I made my own gelliplate, so I can fit one print on one page.

Day 8: My journey

I found the prompt of this first day of week 2 difficult. I found so much stuff but most of it looked like pink packing paper. I wasn't feeling it. It was almost to open of a prompt. The rope caught my eye and I started adding to that. I used an music sheet, the title says: A song of the sea. The left side reminds me of a maze and I find it very symbolic of my journey: I was feeling lost and I'm finding my way back again.

Day 9: Key to creativity

I love the key and knew I wanted to use it in this weeks collage. But I loved the stencil and picture of the door Froyle used and my head got stuck. "I need a key-stencil. I need a door." It took some days before I realized I'm missing the point. It's about creating and using what you have. So, I used a napkin for the texture and figured my key is unlocking my creativity instead of a door :)

Day 10: Just start

I have an old poetry book I bought just because I liked the cover. So I thought I could use a page out of that. Just a random page, no clue what my poem should be about. I just started circling a word I liked. And this is the translation of the black-out poetry I created:

I'm blooming, madly

My price is the calmness

Suddenly, hope and courage

I'm alive

I am myself again, a thousand times more

In Dutch, again (weer) and more (meer) rhyme. I liked the black-out poetry, so I did a second one:

The glow

The goddess in my heart

Poetry recovered my voice

Courageous.

Dag 11: Individuality

I don't have a lazerprinter and I didn't want to go to the copyshop. I tried magazine transfers, but the only succes I had was with a very happy looking piglet and I didn't really find it fitting for my collage! I loved the print on the left, just some faces, painted with the back of a brush on the gelplate. The word translates to individuality. But I also wanted a portrait! And just a picture didn't fit. So I made something like an ets of a magazine portrait. I engraved a thick paper with a ballpointpen, and put it on the gelplate. The paper soaked up the paint, but the engraved lines stayed on the plate. I printed it on an other page of the poetry book. I was so happy it worked!

Day 12: Nothing is safe

I was already exploring putting different things on the gelplate! But this was an extra encouragement to explore. Not even my kids toys were off limit! I used wallpaper on the gelplate as the background and I was surprised the ones with the small motive worked better than the bigger textures. I especially like the background motive on the right. I used buttons, toys, bottle caps, kitchen tools, bubble wrap and cardboard.

I had to laugh when Froyle had to make a circle. I think its also my favorite shape, but after hearing that I really had to try to make mine square :)

Day 13: Fall

Fall is starting an all the leaves are showing the most beautiful colors. I really wanted to use those colors. I used a stick to draw the leaves on the right and the ones in the pocket. I love falling leaves. I wanted to keep some of that movement, so the front leave on the right hangs on a string to keep it moving. The leaves on the left can also move in and out of the sewn pocket. I really wanted to try to make a print of some real leaves and loved the prints and had to use those too!

Day 14: Mini treasures

Again, this was so much fun! And a great way to use all the bits and pieces. I really tried to keep them small. The top right mini-collage with the key and buttonprint is my favorite.

My six year old daughter joined me and was so proud to use my prints for her mini-collages.
