ASSIGNMENT

I love painting my icons but the most exciting thing is when I create the pattern and see it repeating seamlessly! Your assignment is to create a seamless repeating pattern using your watercolor or hand-drawn illustrations, name the pattern and create at least one alternate colorway.

If you do it a few times, you´ll be an expert in no time and soon you´ll be doing it intuitively. That´s why it´s so important to apply what you learn in this class. And it will also help you identify the areas that you need to ask questions about, so you can post them to the class and get answers.

DELIVERABLE

I´d love to see your process in the Project Gallery. And feel free to share additional stuff like sketches, mock-ups and real products you create with your pattern!

A completed project includes:

-Scan or picture of your original illustrations (icons)

-Repeat pattern

-Name of your pattern

-At least one additional colorway

If you don´t have your own icons ready, you can also create a pattern with the sample icons I have provided as attachments in the Class Project tab. There you can find the icons (already cut-out), a background texture and a sample pattern tile so you can study it. The pattern is only 2 x 2” in order to keep the file size as small as possible, but it will give you the opportunity to study it and move things around. Feel free to play with the recoloring and resizing tools so we can see what you come up with! This pattern is called Mushroom Forest.
