I've just been watching The Colour Conversation with Harlequin and Professor Steven Westland who's a professor colour science at Leeds University and his whole field is colour.

He says that when we see colour and light it sends signals to the brain. It's probably to do with individual association. People like colours because they remind them of things that they like. People on average like blue. So, blue sky, red strawberries etc. Interestingly, dark yellow is the seen is the ugliest colour in the world and it's used on cigarette packets in Australia to help people stop smoking.

People have a very individuals. response to colour and we shouldn't over simplify emotional responses to colour because we are all different with different backgrounds.

Studies have shown that colour can be really positive. For example, studies have shown that people in colourful offices make fewer mistakes and colour is good in the home but different for individuals.
