Marlene Miller

Marlene was orphaned in an explosion 8 years before the story begins with her younger brother, Simon. Her father had died before then from pneumonia. The pair were adopted a year after their mother died. Their adoptive mother, Laina Miller, homeschooled them until her husband died, then sent them to a private boarding school. Has power of invisibility.

Marlene has waist length reddish brown hair and sea blue eyes. She is fair skinned and has freckles on her nose and cheeks. She is shorter than her younger brother, but generally average for her age. She is 14 years old and her eyes are quite large. She usually wears her hair down. She is slender.

Simon Miller

Marlene’s almost 13 year old brother. He has the same storyline as his sister. Has power of speed.

Simon has short strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. He has fair skin and freckles like his sister, but is considerably taller. His freckles are slightly paler than his sister’s and his eyes are normal sized for his age. He is the normal weight for someone his age.

Laina Miller

Laina had a tough life before she met her husband and adopted Simon and Marlene. After that, she homeschooled the two of them. After her husband died, she had to get a job as a hygienist and send the children to a private boarding school. Has power over time.

Laina is a short brunette woman with brown eyes and a scar on her right hand. She always has her hair up in a bun and her skin is tan. Her cheeks are always rosy and she smiles a lot. She looks about 28, but she is really around 37. She is a little under average in weight.

Phoenix Fletcher

Phoenix has been going to the boarding school since he was small and is best friends with Simon. He is an only child and is often lonely during non holiday breaks. Has powers over fire.

Phoenix has ( hairstyle like Keith in Voltron ) auburn hair and golden brown eyes. He has tanned skin from the sun and is very fit and skinny. He is about 13 ½ years old and very tall.

Zoey Han

One of Marlene’s three friends. She is very smart and moved to America when she was a year old. She is half Korean half Japanese. She has 2 older brothers. Power of intelligence.

Zoey has long black hair and deep brown eyes. She is slightly shorter than Marlene, but not by much. She is very pretty and looks as Asian as Asian gets. She is 13 years old and quite slim.

Maria Simpson

Maria is another one of Marlene’s friends and a nice young girl who has trouble with schoolwork. She is the oldest of 19 children. She has a twin brother named James. Can turn into whatever material she touches.

Maria has curly dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. She is olive complected and quite overweight. She is 17 years old and trying hard to lose the weight, but is having problems with temptation. She is about an inch taller than Marlene.

Alice Jackson

Alice is an intelligent girl who won’t admit that she is intelligent and she was also homeschooled until the year Marlene entered the school. She is the second youngest of 4 and is very talkative. Alice is oddly counted as a high school student. Power over water.

Alice has dark brown hair and grey green eyes. She is taller than Marlene and is almost 13. She is olive complected and often tanned from the sun. She rarely burns, but there are times when she does. She wears a pair of silver rimmed glasses with a high prescription and had braces until she was 10. She often forgets to wear her retainer, but her teeth are still generally straight.

Daniella Meyers

The 13 year old daughter of one of the teachers. Kinda snooty. Manipulates the weather.

She has long black hair and green eyes. She is taller than her mother, but not by much.

James Simpson

James is an intelligent young man who wants to be an accountant. He hangs out with his friends and doesn’t appear much. He has no powers.

He has shoulder length curly golden locks and hazel eyes. He is a short young man with a few pale freckles here and there. He is slender and very handsome. He is 17 years old and has a job as the secretary of the school owner.

Akila Knowles

The owner of the school. She is smart and her name literally means “ Intelligent”. She is of Arabic descent and owns the school. She gave her powers away to mentor children with powers.

She has long black hair and coffee colored skin. Her dark brown eyes have an intelligent appearance.

Giselle Meyers

A teacher at the school. She teaches math and science to the junior high and high school students.

She has long black curls and large blue eyes. She is so short, she could be mistaken as a kindergartener. She does not have powers, but has experience because of her 13 year old daughter who has the power to manipulate the weather.

Daniel Reddoch

A young man who teaches language, power management, and fencing to junior high and high school students. He can copy any magical attack anyone does to him.

He has shoulder length brown hair which is usually in a ponytail and wise looking brown eyes.

Prologue

( 6 year old Marlene is playing tag with her 5 year old brother in a sunny backyard behind a small teal house)

Little Marlene: Simon, wanna ask Mommy if we can go to the park?

Little Simon: Not willy, Marwene. I wanna pway wiff Tommy and Wucath.

Little Marlene: Simon, Lucas and Tommy are in Calithornia with their Gramma. They can’t play right now. Please ask Mommy to take us to the park.

Little Simon ( in a scream ): I don’t wanna!!!!

Simon and Marlene’s Birth Mother ( she is a pale, red haired, and blue eyed woman, you choose the rest): Marlene, it’s Simon’s naptime. Could you open the door for me while I carry him in?

Little Marlene: Yes, Mommy!!!

Little Simon( while rushing to get under the playset): Mommy, I’m too owd fow napth!! I don’t wanna take napth!!!

Simon and Marlene’s Birth Mother ( as she grabbed Simon): Not this time, you little punk.

( Their usual afternoon is interrupted when they hear loud beeping)

Simon and Marlene’s Birth Mother: Oh, I’d better go turn off the oven. Simon, I’ll let you play for 5 more minutes out here, then you absolutely must take your nap.

( Marlene plays with her brother some more while her mother runs inside )

( Marlene starts to run inside to ask her mom for a glass of milk, then BOOM!!)

( Simon and Marlene wake up in hospital beds. Marlene is covered in burns and Simon’s arm is in a sling )

( Weird time change showing 7 year old Marlene and 6 year old Simon happily skipping out of an orphanage, then an image of a happy family. )

Part 1

Packing Again

Marlene ( while packing her bags with her brother in the living room ) ( she is in a pale green t-shirt and a pair of tan shorts): Simon, don’t forget to pack your dress clothes, Mother says that there are parties for every birthday and holiday. Anyway, there’s the Winter Ball, the Prom, and the welcoming and dismissing feasts.

Simon ( giving a look of dread at a white box ) ( He is wearing a camo t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans that are worn out and a couple inches too short ): The feasts are done in our uniforms and I can’t go to a dance unless someone your age asks me. I could wear holiday garb if the holidays have special outfits. On birthdays we can wear whatever we want.

Laina ( dressed from head to toe in a black drapey dress and holding two similar boxes ): Marly, Si, your uniforms have arrived!! This box is yours, Simon. Marlene, this one is yours.

Marlene ( as she pulls a knee length lavender dress with short sleeves and a black ribbon around the waist, black ballet flats, a black cardigan sweater( the short kind), white tights, and a purple bow): This uniform is awesome!!! I’ll feel like I’m going to a dance every day!!! I really love the shoes!!!

Simon ( as he looks at his uniform: a white polo, a dark grey suit jacket, a matching pair of dress pants, a pale yellow bow tie, white socks, and a pair of black oxfords ): Ugh, my uniform sucks. Why did you get your dream uniform? Can’t we wear camo and jeans sometimes? Hey, won’t I be kinda warm in this?

Laina: Of course. I almost forgot. Here are your school's winter and summer gear.

Marlene: We have that? Cool!!!

Simon: Mom, will you please pass my other gear so I can finish packing and join Lucas and Tom in Diablo III?

Laina ( as she picks up and hands him a large white box ): Sure, here you go.

Simon ( as he looks in with a face of surprise): Whoa, now this is what I’m looking for!!!

Marlene ( peeking over Simon’s shoulder): Wow, I wasn’t even remotely expecting this!!

( The next sketch shows a view of the inside. There was a camo winter coat with an electric yellow scarf, a pair of black gloves, a pair of boots that look like they were designed for running, a set of camo summer clothes ( shorts, t-shirts, and socks ), and a pair of camo running shoes)

Marlene( as she grabs and opens her box): Look, mine’s completely different. I have a teal dress, a pair of pink high heeled sandals, a white sun hat, a pair of mint green gloves, a lavender ponytail hat, and brown boots. Not impressive, but kinda cool looking. Wait, are these lavender snow pants? Look under your stuff, Simon; you might have some, too.

Simon: Ok? I have snow pants, too, but mine are camo. Wait, why do I have a necklace with a pale blue gem? This necklace must be yours.

Marlene: Nope, I have a clear charmed necklace. I don’t think I was supposed to have two. Maybe ours got mixed up. This one’s shaped like a ghost.

Simon: This is in the shape of a lightning bolt. Whoa, it just turned yellow!!!

Marlene: Oooh, this is now lavender. How is this possible?

Simon: I don’t know. Hey, Mom, why aren’t you talking? Mom?

Laina ( stepping out from behind the bookshelves ): I’m right here. I think those necklaces are special. You should probably wear them.

( A long silence happens as Simon looks disbelievingly at the necklace, Marlene puts hers on, and Laina looks down at her watch)

Laina: Marlene, Simon, you should probably get to bed. It’s getting late.

Simon: But, Mom, you said I could…………..

Laina: No buts about it, go to bed.

( It shows Marlene climbing into her bed)

Part 2

The Proof Is In The Pudding

Simon ( who is shaking Marlene awake ): Marly, get outta bed!!!! We have to go!!!! Mom told me to remind me we have to be at the airport before nine!!!!

Marlene( sleepily): Just one more hour!!!!

Simon: It’s 8!! Get up!!!

Marlene ( as she jumps out of bed ): You should have woken me earlier!! Let’s go!! Luckily, I slept in my clothes!!!

Simon ( as he runs downstairs followed by Marlene): Mom!! Where did you put our suitcases?

Laina ( from outside): They’re already in the car!! Get over here!!!

Simon: Coming!!!!

( The siblings climbed down the stairs)

( They run down the stairs)

( Now, they are opening a screen door out into a spacious neighborhood)

(The two stand on a driveway in front of a tall blue house)

Marlene: Where’s Mom?

Simon: I dunno. Maybe she forgot to grab something.

Laina ( now she’s right beside the siblings ): Hurry into the car. We can’t miss the plane!!!!

( Shows Simon and Marlene climbing onto a plane )

Marlene ( to a brunette girl sitting next to her ): Hello, I’m Marlene. We’re stuck together, so we may as well get acquainted.

Alice: Nice to meet you, Marlene. I’m Alice. Alice Jackson. I’m going to be attending Silverwolf’s School for Gifted Children. You too?

Marlene ( with a surprised look ): Yep, how’d you know?

Alice: Everybody on the plane is going there. My friend, Zoey Han, is going too. She is a quite gifted girl herself. She can do college age arithmetic. I hate arithmetic.
