Day 9 : Cosmetics w/ pen

Different topic entirely, and it was difficult, the proportions are, for once, not correct on the 2 first sketches, it took me 3 trials to get it ok. I like the use of writing on this drawing, and one round shape is actually my favorite. I also practiced making a general contour drawing at first (on the third sketch), and it really helped with the overall look, especially for the round shapes.

Day 8 : Pilea w/ watercolor

After yesterday's fine details, I was challenged with watercolor today ! The first sketch looks like blobs to me, but I really improved on the second. I went quicker with my lines, and the general look of it is nice to my eye. I practiced many different round shapes flattened which is not my strong suit, but I enjoyed it and like the result.

Day 7 : Kitchenware w/ pen

Today I tackled a very difficult object for me, with. lots of details. I got overwhelmed, but I hung on tight to keep going and make at least one complet sketch. Like Ohn Mar in the video about drawing the key, I think I shouldn't draw such intricate objects with fine nibs, it would prevent me from focusing too much on details. I really like the end result thought so that's something :)

Day 6 : ”Pomander” w/ brush and ink

Back at home, I had scheduled myself a tough one. A pomander is an old-fashioned object in which you put solid perfume to scent your house. I grabbed this one when I used to work for L'Occitane a few years ago, they don't sell it anymore unfortunately but I really love this object with its vintage look.

It's also a round object, so I'm continuing my work on round shapes, and it actually didn't went so bad. I enjoyed working with ink and brush, I will definitely do it again. My more thorough sketch (on the right) is actually quite ressemblant, I like it !

Day 5 : Fountain pen w/ pencil

Thank you so much Ohn Mar for the feedback and all your insights, I will concentrate on linework for now then, because that's what I want to do, and keep the shading topic for another 14 day challenge, why not ?

Again another sketch while on the go, with a much more simple object this time, and I had a lot of fun drawing this. I think my lines are bolder and I really like the sketch on the right. The very quick sketch proved to be useful (proportions were not correct, so I could concentrate on that for the second one), I will continue with this...

Day 4 : Headphones w/ fountain pen

I am not home today so I chose an object I always carry with me, even if it’s a tricky
one to draw, with a lot of round shapes that I don’t like. However, it was really not as difficult as I thought, there is much room for improvement but it’s recognizable. I need to simplify some shapes, and also to think ahead of overlapping parts. I also tried a fast drawing because I only had 15 seconds left or so, that’s the one on the right. I think it’s actually not that bad, so maybe I will start with a very quick sketch tomorrow to “get in the mood”, and then take more time.. We’ll see...

Day 3 : Teacup w/ brush pen

I was proud with myself to come back to the drawing table today as yesterday’s experience was not good for me. Luckily I had chosen an easier object to draw to my opinion, so my confidence got reboosted. I really liked drawing with this brush pen, I guess I will have to investigate that more.
Ellipses and round shapes in general are still something I need to be focusing on, but I really like the middle teacup.

Day 2 : Mirror w/ pen

I was so happy with how it went yesterday that, well, I guess I was too confident... This mirror proved to be trickier than I thought. Proportions were not always correct and round shapes proved to be a challenge. But the second and third trials are much better in my opinion so I didn’t get discouraged and went on, that’s something to take away.

Day 1 : Scissor w/ pencil

It really was surprisingly easy and fun, I was really enjoying myself, and I am happy with the results.
I handled proportions well, and volume is ok too. The timing was fine and I was in no rush.

I see room for improvement with round shapes and more 3D look. Let’s not mention that I only did line work, shading is not my strong suit...

I started this challenge at the beginning of the week as many other students here (well done everyone!) but didn’t find the time to post the results until now.

Thank you so much Ohn Mar for all the method and structure you put into this, it’s been very helpful. I travel a lot for my day job, and always struggle to find time to draw even if it’s really a pleasure every time. By planning ahead, scheduling what, when and how to draw, it really simplifies things for me, and even right now, I’m on a business trip, I have all I need with me so no excuses !
