Scottish Garden - image 1 - student project

I watched this class on and off over a few weeks and I finally got around to experimenting with my own gouache floral piece. I haven’t done all 3 compositions but I spent a lovely afternoon painting in my garden (before the thunderstorm struck)- and wanted to share my progress.

I painted too thick for the yellow flowers and they went a bit cracked when drying- other than that I feel it was a pretty good attempt at painting with no pre- planning. I looked at the different flowers in my garden and painted as I went. When it started raining I relocated inside to add the pen and ink details. I also used UniBall pens to add some white details.
