Hi everyone!

I've got some exciting news to share. This year I've had the pleasure of working with Google again, as well as Yahoo, among other big and exciting clients. I've been writing and talking a lot about how to build a career as a freelancing illustrator and want to keep sharing the knowledge.

Learn how to pitch to big clients, get more referrals, and what it’s like to draw for a living: I was invited to Art Heroes’ podcast to talk about freelancing as an illustrator who also travels. You can watch from YouTube, and listen on Spotify and Apple Music. I talk about what it takes to freelance, the importance of networking, how to find “big client” work.

It’s so exciting to have all of you join my classes, it really warms my cold, leaden heart, to know that you’re getting so much out of my humble lessons! I also appreciate all the constructive feedback, and have been applying your notes to future classes. It was really hard to keep putting myself out there.

The new classes are well underway, but it’s going to be maybe a few more weeks before I announce the new topics. Producing, writing, editing, and being in front of the camera is hard when you’re doing it all alone (as you’ll see in the evolution of my three classes, hopefully you notice that these classes are getting better :))

For my new students, please feel welcome to send me some questions, tips, tutorial requests, or even feedback. For old students that have also become friends, hi! It’s been a pleasure interacting with you outside of class.

Drawing with 3D References - this is a great course for you if you want to improve drawing from photos by learning to pose existing 3D models. It’s also great for artists that can’t find highly specific poses so you can learn to create your own reference material.
Absolute Basics for Absolute Beginners - despite the new updates, still a good source for learning the basics of the software from someone that learned everything through trial and error (as well as the original training material in Japanese)
