Create a poster that shows off your country pride or support for a nation competing in the Olympics

Overview: Design a poster for the country of your choosing that would be used for promotion of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. It is encouraged to look at sports references as well, since the Olympics are an atheletic event, but don't feel limited by this.

Details of project: Students will put strong emphasis on the ideation portion of the project They will create a series of quick sketches showcasing conceptual development and their overall direction before moving to the computer.

Attention should be given to typography, with relevancy to the country they choose. The same goes for color and imagery used in the composition of the poster.

Adding a unique twist, I encourage you to design either in the graphic style of the country you choose, or design it with the locale of Rio in mind and research the styles of that region. This will give you a with a better understanding of an era within design as well as teach you the benefits of a strong conceptual approach to solving design problems.

Final Deliverables: 24"x 36" (61cm x 93cm) poster - either landscape or portrait. Your choice.

This gives you ample amount of space for typography and imagery. This large size also presents the challenge of using the space effectively in your composition. Sometimes when designing at larger scales, more consideration has to be given to overall composition and layout for clarity of communication.
