Nice work Michael, I'm sorry I haven't noticed your project sooner. Right now it's a bit late on my side to start writing more detailed feedback but I'll get on it tomorrow, if that's alright. All in all, it's very nice but as always, there are things that can push it even further in a good direction.Thanks for providing a ref image.

Hi, like I promised I'm back with some more feedback. As I mentioned previously I think you did some excellent work but just a few changes, in my opinion, could make it even better.  First of all, the sky. I know it's similar to the reference image, and that's great, but you could enhance the painting by giving the sky a bit more variety. Make it feel more like a sky. Just a little bit. Consider making the higher parts of the sky a darker shade of blue or the lower part a bit brighter, creating a sort of gradient effect. That would also give this scene a certain depth that is always welcomed. Clouds could also be a great addition. Nothing over the top, maybe just some little hints of those clouds would be enough for us to not see that surface as a flat shape above the rooftops.  Speaking of rooftops, let's move down to the buildings. In order to get a sense of depth in an urban or any kind of environment it's important to think about how to go about the details. The closer the object is, the more details we can see. I see that almost an equal amount of detail is placed both on the buildings that are close to us and on the ones that are far away. I would love to see that the buildings that are closest to are more fleshed out and given some character. YOu could add more details on the flowers, and make them pop. The same goes for the windows, at least the ones closest to us. Maybe even more textures on the walls, show us a few bricks. That would sell us the atmosphere, I think, even more.  Lastly, the water. I think you did a great job with the waves but there are a few things I would like you to consider. There are some beautiful shapes in the water in the reference image that you could have used. Give the water on your painting more variety. That's what the reference is for. Earlier I said you could've taken some liberties when it came to the sky but here you could have taken it to your advantage and really played with it, giving it a less uniform look. That's all. 

Here's an example of a watercolor based on a photo I made in Venice some 13 years ago. Not a perfect piece at all but a good example of all that I said previously.

Thank your for the feedback, it's very valuable.
 I thought the blue sky would give the impression of a hot day, but has become boring like the water. Still don't really have a clue how to paint water, but variation of reflections would certainly lighten it up a lot. Your painting is much more exciting. I will try that again soon.
 Making the details sharper towards the front is a very valuable suggestion. I've never consciously considered that before. 

So far, I've only paid attention to making the elements darker towards the front.

Beautiful! The water is very well done. Venice is a beautiful city.

Yes, the cradle of art is in Italy. So many masters have painted Venice, always a pleasure to paint a picture of it. I'll have to look again at how to paint water, it's not dynamic enough yet. But Milan has already provided good suggestion.

Your projects are great. I also painted almost the same scene of Venice. Must also try Neuschwanstein, that's a good subject.
