For this project you don't need any specialised psychological instruments or training - just a bit of honesty and some bravery!
You are going to get some insights into your emotional intelligence by considering some key factors and by getting some feedback from someone you know well and from the class.
Below are three statements. For each statement, rate yourself between 1 and 10.A rating of 1 indicates a very low level of competence, while 10 indicates a very high level of competence. Then get someone else - someone who knows you well – to rate you.
Gain feedback from someone that you trust – a friend, a colleague or a manager.
Don’t show them your scores before they have had the chance to answer the questions and give you their scores.
When you have both completed the rating scales discuss and compare your own view with theirs and make notes.
When you discuss the rating scores ask for specific examples of things you do well and ideas of how you could improve for each of the statements.
Share with the class what have you learnt about yourself and ask for some ways that you can build upon your ratings.
