I really enjoyed this approach to portraiture.  I didn't get any hard edges or blooms in my 1st layer, not sure why because I did have pools of water and color.  That 1st layer really looked a mess, I wasn't sure it would work at all, so I was a little surprised at how it all came together.  I will definitely try this technique again and hopefully get more interesting areas of hard edges and blooms.
