Ducks, Ripples

Ducks, Ripples - student project

Ducks, Ripples - image 1 - student project

I used Baohong Masters' Choice 300gsm 100% cotton cold-pressed paper in size 34x24 cm and Daniel Smith's tube watercolors.

So I actually finished this months ago but I was just going through my pile of unfinished paintings, found it there and realized I never posted it. I remember not being happy with it back then so that's probably why it got left behind, but now looking at it after all this time, I'm thinking it's not That bad. The ducks are not the exact same color as Chris', but I used a paint that doesn't lift out, so it is what it is. Also the belly of the duck is a bit one-dimensional, it needs some texture, but I do love the water ripples and the color of them. I remember this was the first time I used Cascade Green, a gorgeous granulating paint.

All in all, it's not my best work, but neither is it my worst, so I'm happy enough with it. Funny how your perspective changes after some time, now I truly understand why you should put the painting aside and come back to it later, if you're not happy with it. Your opinion might just change!

Thanks Chris for another fun class! :)
