Crayons and markers were what I had on hand, and I really love the organic look they give. I colored the dots roughly with the crayon, and then stuck it in the oven for a bit to melt down the wax before outlining with marker.

I think it turned out looking nice and lively—my dots start out a nice happy peach, and then get bumped and jostled into absolute grouchiness ;)
