I very much lack discipline in showing up to create, and feel a great pull to document my days of late, thus my project...

30 Days of Creative Journalling

Purpose: to develop discipline in my art practice, further develop observational drawing skills (limit pencil under-sketching + use colour blocks to create shape/line), work with colour and limited palettes and explore ways in which to document life creatively

Media: markers, white gel pen, black ink pen, pencil, eraser & cheap Mont Marte sketchbook (+ iPad)

Schedule: One sketchbook page, daily, for 30 days

Subject: Various items within a theme based on my daily life (current interest/event/routine etc)

Sharing: Skillshare Class Projects + Family/Friends (+ decided to start posting to Instagram partway through)

Day 7: Decade at the Bakery
My last day at my job today after 10 years. I glued in the note my workmate made and stuck to the counter for my last shift. Honestly, I'm not as happy with this drawing - it's been a day and I'm tired...but hey, I did get the drawing done so there's a win there.

Day 4: Shopping Day
I realised that I really wasn't enjoying the written journalling as part of the drawing, nor did it really add much more to the image anyway. Thus, deciding I want the drawing itself to do the talking, I'll do any written journalling on the reverse of the page, which pleases my perfectionist-self a little more. Maybe I could just add a 'title' to the image, too, for a touch more context (shall try that tomorrow).

Day 3: Get Dirty; Stay Clean
I'm really enjoying the 'flat-lay item collection' type style I seem to have naturally fallen into - the 'beauty in the mundane' aspect of it I'm loving so much!

Day 2: Damper Fail
* Damper is, to those unfamiliar, an Australian homemade 'soda bread' of sorts (typically baked over a campfire, though not in this case).
