Required Equipment

Espresso Machine - Does not need to be overly fancy. Something capable of generating at least 9 bars of pressure and a steam wand for frothing milk. Anything in the $100-$300 should suffice. The machine I use: Cafe Roma by Breville (none of these links are affiliate).
Burr Coffee Grinder - A good grinder is a must! A hand crank manual grinder or an electric burr grinder. The grinder I use: Bodum Grinder
Scale - Something capable of measuring to 0.1g. The scale I use: AWS Scale
Stop Watch - Any phone app capable of counting up will work great.
Steaming Pitcher - A stainless steal steaming pitcher for frothing milk. You might be able to get away with using a cup or mug as well, but a dedicated pitcher makes the job a lot easier and gives a lot more pour control.
A non-pressurized portafilter basket - Not essential for learning but it will make your shots significantly better. Make sure you get the right size for your portafilter. The one I use for the Cafe Roma: Portafilter Basket

Project

The time has come to create a masterpiece. The goal is simple: craft an espresso based beverage and snap a picture.
